Just that he was unpopular and lost re-election and it was a fluke that he won in the first place...but that's not really "legitimacy" as Nixon, Ford, or W. might (in their various ways) have. Plus that (IMO) he's an arrogant guy who wouldn't do it. Although IIRC he did either give up government-provided security or dial it down or something like that. At least that's my memory, without checking.Jonathan Bernsteinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15931039630306253241noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926413038778731189.post-41733908949694874102012-03-22T19:53:20.594-05:002012-03-22T19:53:20.594-05:00In what way is the legitimacy of Jimmy Carter'...In what way is the legitimacy of Jimmy Carter's presidency under fire?Daniel Dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926413038778731189.post-3023381736839647452012-03-22T13:14:31.265-05:002012-03-22T13:14:31.265-05:00Generals (and possibly colonels) are permitted by ...Generals (and possibly colonels) are permitted by law to retain their titles after retirement.Scott Monjenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926413038778731189.post-82030508730978602712012-03-22T12:46:40.443-05:002012-03-22T12:46:40.443-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.philosophical-ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04329015177186261224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926413038778731189.post-90375090162346518872012-03-22T12:46:14.410-05:002012-03-22T12:46:14.410-05:00Thank you very, very much for coming down on this ...Thank you very, very much for coming down on this side of this issue. It is a small first step, towards a huge journey of re-aligning American politics & government with the basic roots of political behavior in the human animal -- our constant human habit of assigning honor, rank and status to various persons and behaviors we find in our social & cultural spaces.philosophical-ronhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04329015177186261224noreply@blogger.com
