I've looked. It's hard to find real research.

In 2007, the NYT reports on research done, saying they'd had a copy of the report drafted by experts for The Elections Assistance Commission, and the released report was modified by the commission: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/11/washington/11voters.html

quote:
"A federal panel responsible for conducting election research played down the findings of experts who concluded last year that there was little voter fraud around the nation, according to a review of the original report obtained by The New York Times.

Instead, the panel, the Election Assistance Commission, issued a report that said the pervasiveness of fraud was open to debate."

The content of the original report is not available, that I can find. The researchers are forbidden to talk of it, according to the NYT story.

As a resident of ME, I'd really like some good information on the topic.zicnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6926413038778731189.post-22177425333813745342011-06-11T13:05:13.806-05:002011-06-11T13:05:13.806-05:00Not a California-big deal, but still news in thes...Not a California-big deal, but still news in these parts...

Maine ends 38 years of same-day voter registration.

For most of that time the state ranked in the top 3 nationally for turnout.

The bill was opposed by the same Maine Association of Municipal Clerks, whose intolerable workload was given by the GOP as one reason for the bill.

Photo ID legislation to follow -- in a state with one recorded instance of a voter casting two ballots in the same election in 40 years.Davis X.
