When it comes to elections, there's a lot of sideshow, and then there are things that really matter. The research is clear that one of the things that really does matter is the condition of the economy. So whatever you're reading today about town hall meetings, and death panels, and all the rest of it is likely not as important to the outcomes of the 2010 and 2012 elections as the continuing confirmation that the recession may have ended sometime this summer.
Long ways to go, of course, and we probably won't see job gains for some time still, but just a reminder that if you're tracking the next election cycles the business section is a good place to spend some time.
