I recently opined that Republicans forgive their embarrassing pols, while Democrats don't. I think there's an exception, which I mentioned in the original post (re: John Dean) but drew no conclusions from: liberals are apparently willing to forgive disgraced conservatives who now support liberal ideas.
Or: what the hell is David Stockman doing on the NYT op-ed page today?
... liberals are apparently willing to forgive disgraced conservatives who now support liberal ideas.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about "forgive." For myself, at least, it's more like "welcome the not completely insane into our big tent of people you can at least hope to talk to reasonably." I started doing this conscientiously when people on the right found the courage in fall 2008 to speak the truth about the thought of Sarah Palin as VP.
... David Stockman ...?
Ah, c'mon. The NYT has been giving guest op-ed space to voices from across the political spectrum at least since the days when I carried newspapers (made of wood) door-to-door in a genuine canvas bag.
This can be seen as part of their ongoing effort to prove to the howlers that they are not just the LIEBRUL MEDIA!!!1!, a strategy that should start paying off any century now.
