Dep't of Easy Predictions Proven Correct

Plain Blog, on the Shelby hold, on Friday:
My guess is that he backs off within a day or so, most likely by this afternoon, as Republicans come to him and tell him that it's a fight they don't want.
Tonight's WaPo:
Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) has released his controversial "holds" on more than 70 pending presidential nominations, the senator's office said Monday night.
OK, it was Monday night, not Friday afternoon; I blame the snow.  And the brief story doesn't say anything about Republicans telling him to back off...but it's not as if a lot of Republicans have publicly backed him, either.  And for what it's worth, Shailagh Murray's story also reports a White House claim that they gave him nothing.  One never knows, but I bet that's correct.  Of course, Shelby did get to grandstand for his constituents for a few days, so he may think of it as a win.

In other news, I really should have mentioned that I liked the "under" on the Super Bowl.
