Now, the president, with all the vast nuclear experience that he acquired as a community organizer, as a part-time senator, and as a full-time candidate, all that experience, still no accomplishment to date with North Korea and Iran.
Could anyone possibly believe they're going to hurt an incumbent president by attacking him on experience? I mean, outside of the fact that most Americans don't actually think that "community organizer" is a devastating slur, and outside of Sarah Palin being a particularly odd bearer of experience-based arguments...Hey, Republicans! You do realize that Obama won, don't you? And that therefore a whole lot of Americans...I'm gong to guess it's about 300 million of them -- think of him as a President of the United States, not as some upstart nobody. I mean, even the ones who think he's a Kenyan-born commie-nazi think of him as an impostor president, not an impostor community organization who wishes he was president.
They might want to give this one a little thought.

Fortunately for the political health of the nation, and unfortunately for that of the Republican party, right now giving anything a little though is something that has become an impossibility for them. I knew they'd go bonkers when Obama won, but half-term-Alaskan-governor, pro-nuke-Young-Republicans-student-council-rants bonkers has been a surprise. Plus we've had two Neo-Confederate Republican pols out themselves this year, and the bickering over RNC leadership openly degenerate into racism. It makes you wonder in what way the meltdown of the Republican party will get worse next!

ReplyDeleteThat the media and blogosphere (including myself) give this woman any analysis beyond "what a goddamn idiot she is" is amazing. That she actually has the ear of millions of citizens points not to how adept she is at finding the pulse of America, but at how stunningly apathetic American citizens have become at how this country is governed. If she wins the nomination in 2012, that would mean a vast number of Americans do not care who runs this country. It's mind-boggling.
ReplyDeleteThe real thing - and I think this is the best part - is that as I recall, Obama's Columbia thesis was actually on Nuclear policy. It is actually an issue that he's studied for quite some time.
