Is apparently "WMDs."

Really?  I mean, yes, "reportedly", but...You know what?  I don't even want to try to finish that sentence.

(For non-puzzlers, the "briefly" means that the answer is an abbreviation).

    I thought the same thing... Added a jolt of high blood pressure to my relaxing Sunday pastime. Why not "allegedly"? Or "purportedly"?

    I mean, this is the Times we're talking about. They like to be picky about such things.
