I think Boehner gets an A so far. Perhaps this is just underpromising and overdelivering, but its noteworthy how much he has been able to deliver in light of contrary forces within his own party, as well as an antagonistic WH and Senate.Even more challenging is the fact that those contrary forces are not particularly well-organized; it must be awfully challenging to engage in backroom negotiations with an amorphous entity like the Tea Party. Finally - and this may be part of underpromising and overdelivering - but I've always perceived Boehner to be a profoundly weak leader. Perhaps its the ubiquitous waterworks. I would have thought Boehner's task difficult for a strong leader, impossible for him, so the amount he's delivered is really quite remarkable.
