What Mattered This Week?

Well, Syria, obviously. I'm going to mention, however, the latest confirmation that Ruth Bader Ginsburg is going nowhere anytime soon. Really could be a very big deal.

It sure was an unusually newsy week for the last week of August, no?

Not sure what I have for "didn't matter." How about impeachment talk? I'm as guilty as anyone for picking up on stray comments by GOP politicians, and in some symbolic sense one could make a case for it being important, but I'm not really sure the comments do matter.

What do you think? What am I missing? What do you think mattered this week?

  1. Syria and impeachment are related in that if Obama had decided to use force without first seeking the consent of Congress, talk of impeachment might have become fairly serious (which I agree it isn't now).

  2. This didn't really "happen" this week but we are continuing to see attempts to take out evil RINO's in the Senate with Lamar Alexander being the newest target. Great quote from the New York Times, "“Senator Alexander has never been a true conservative,” said Ben Cunningham, president of the Nashville Tea Party. “His support for the amnesty bill has caused great problems for us,” he said, referring to the Senate immigration bill. “He is at best a moderate.”" Everyone is a moderate it seems!

Even Joe Miller is back in the news for pete's sake.

Finally GDP numbers got revised way up for the most recent quarter to %2.5 which is pretty good and unemployment claims continues to move generally downward under the magic number of 400k.

  4. Obama going to Congress on Syria.

Good because he was operating under the Unitary Executive rules of Bush/Cheney.

He's returned to form; setting precedent that this is how it's done; per the Constitution. Sadly, there's enough war exhaustion that (gladly) even conservatives aren't so happy to bang the drums.
