Catch of the Day

To Conor Friedersdorf, who notes that both Michelle Malkin and Rush Limbaugh predicted that liberals and the news media would ignore some fool thing that Marion Barry said...
Take that, lamestream media. Always harping on racist comments by white conservatives but ignoring them when they're uttered by black liberals! This would be trenchant critique of the MSM's double-standard ... if it weren't for the fact that Barry's comments have so far been covered at outlets including The Washington Post, the Huffington Post, CNN, local NPR affiliate WAMU, The Daily Beast, the local NBC affiliate, the local CBS affiliate, Mediaite, Politico, ABC News, the local Patch site, The Washington City Paper, Yahoo News, DCist, and Democratic Underground.
Links to all of these in the original.

Best part of the excellent post is the headline/subhead, starting with:

Michelle Malkin Needs a More Sophisticated Theory of Media Bias
followed by:
The problem with her current thinking is it's completely divorced from reality.
For more on a related them, see Jonathan Chait today on pseudo-outrage. And, yes, this is indeed something that both sides do. In equal amounts? It's an empirical question! I'd have to count it up...but I've definitely seen the thing that Friedersdorf describes here from liberals, too.

Great item (read the whole thing), and Nice Catch.

  1. Recently, NBC possibly defamed Zimmerman, ABC claimed that their grainy footage proved him uninjured, CNN said he used the word "coon," Huff-Po insisted he was "white" because liberals love that narrative, etc. They ignored the first rule of racial brouhahas: Sharpton is always wrong.

They are now pulling back to regain credibility. Expect something like another NYT piece on CBC corruption in the very near future because they think of race in terms of ledgers.
