Remember Rush Limbaugh?
He had such a good spring, what with hoping that Obama would fail and getting all those big shot Republicans to grovel to him. But while Rush might think to accuse the President of the United States of America of being a racist, he'd never say that Obama "has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture," because Rush actually wants to be respectable, and you can't say stuff like that and still hang out with presidential candidates.
I haven't listened much to Rush in the last few years, but I poked around a bit on his home page, and there's nothing at all about the hottest crazy topic, czars. I don't know that he ignored Beck's big rally in Washington, but there's no obvious mention of it. In fact, it looks to me as if he's pretty far behind the curve on the crazy. Sure, there are mentions of fascism, but at least on the web site it looks to me like his heart isn't into it. He's going through the motions. There's plenty there about Joe Wilson and how Wilson shouldn't have to apologize...but that's pretty weak stuff, it seems to me, compared to The Czars Are Coming!
Hmmm...perhaps he's just coasting; a Democratic president is such good news for him that he really doesn't need to break a sweat to keep his ratings high. Perhaps, as I said, he's trying to keep on the respectable side of the line -- hitting hard is fine, but out-crazying Beck would make it pretty tough for Palenty and Palin and the rest of the '12ers to hang out with him. Maybe I just caught him on a down week. I don't know, but it'll be interesting, to me at least, to see where he goes in the next few months.
It is worth noting, by the way, that (at least as far as I know) no Republican has filed for impeachment. (Members of Congress doing it formally, that is -- there's plenty of Impeach Obama stuff out there if you want to pay for it). Yet. I'll take Michele Bachmann, and I'll go with April 15, 2010. If you want in, leave your prediction in comments.
