Here's the thing: I don't make predictions about the postseason. As far as I'm concerned, it's basically a coin flip. If anyone offers you better-than-coin-flip odds, take the underdog. Otherwise, sit it out.
As far as team quality, it's pretty obvious that the Twins are the worst of the four in the AL...there's nothing quite so clear in the NL, although the Dodgers had far the best season overall. Since my 2nd and 3rd favorite teams are whoever is playing against the Dodgers and whoever is playing against the Yankees, that leaves me not very happy with the way things are going so far.
But as I said, no predictions in advance, and no predictions going forward.
I will say that the last four World Series matchups have featured eight different teams. That also happened in 2002-2005, and in 1983-1986, 1981-1984, 1979-1982, and 1918-1921. And that's it (the National League before 1905 never had four consecutive different champions, so I don't even have to think about the pre-WS era). There's never been a string of five years with ten different teams. If we're to break the record, the Red Sox, Phillies, Cardinals and Rockies have to be eliminated. So I won't be rooting for the Bums, but it is something to think about.
