I'm not sure how many noticed this, but the Large Hadron Collider is up and working again...those who have followed the story will be aware that it originally was supposed to be ready to go a year ago, but had to be shut down for all sorts of repairs.
I do note that the restart took place late Friday night. Obviously, the physics types in charge of things were engaging in media management: if they accidentally opened up a black hole that swallowed the world and ended human existence, they wanted it to happen on Friday night to reduce press coverage.
