Lie To Me

Great takedown from Jon Chait today of the Weekly Standard's history of, er, somewhat problematic interpretation of current events: for the Weekly Standard, it turns out, all events are good news for the Republicans.

I agree with Jon's question: why do people want to read that sort of thing? I also think this is one case where there's no partisan equivalency; is there any liberal publication (print or online) that invariably sees all news as partisan good news? That's not true for rabid partisanship, since the Olbermann show is at least as partisan as, say, Hannity. But I don't think Olbermann interprets all developments as certain to help Dems at the polls...I certainly don't think that's the attitude of leading liberal online activists.

Am I wrong about this? Is there a liberal/Democratic triumphalist show or web site out there somewhere?

  1. I occasionally read liberal Facebook posts or DailyKos dairies along these lines, but I can't think of an actual liberal publication that's so consistently Pravda-esque.
