Judean People's Front Crack Suicide Squad 2

All political parties believe that their opponents are better organized, more tactically clever, and have far more success at manipulating the press. Or, as one Democrat said yesterday:
"Sometimes Democrats can be their own worst enemies, Democrats are an opinionated bunch ... y'all are thinking for yourselves. I like that in you, but it's time for us to make sure that we finish the job here. We are this close and we've got to be unified."
Nice catch by Ezra Klein, who notes that those comments were an ad lib or a late addition. All presidents believe that their opponents are better...

So Democrats are trying to get their Senate Majority leader defeated for reelection in order to teach someone a lesson. Meanwhile, it seems that Republicans can also be their own worst enemies. The big news this week is from New York, where conservatives are trying as hard as possible to extend the GOP House shutout from New England down into NY-23 in an upcoming special election. Andrew Gelman has a nice item on this one, noting that the GOP candidate is apparently on the conservative side of the NY GOP. That, of course, isn't good enough for movement conservatives.

A single House seat is small potatoes, however, compared to the FL Senate seat, where conservatives are rallying against November shoe-in Governor Crist. I do think that if there's one primary to watch this spring, it's FL-Senate...not only could conservatives cost the GOP a Senate seat, which is big enough, but strategic pols in other states will be watching as they try to decide whether to seek higher office as non-crazy Republicans in future election cycles.

See, Mr. President? Democrats aren't the only ones!
