What Mattered This Week?

I'll put it this way: getting the federal-run exchanges up and running properly matters; the spin over it doesn't matter. What I don't really know is whether the decisions made this week about the exchanges really matter...we won't know that until later, both after the outcome is known and after more of the behind-the-scenes stuff gets reported.

What do you have? What do you think mattered this week?

  1. The allegations about the NSA spying on Merkel's cell phone and the European response may matter. Tail Gunner Ted trashing fellow Rs in Iowa and Lamar Alexander running against Tea Party may matter politically. I have a feeling that the epic wildfires in Australia may eventually matter politically in that country and perhaps beyond in reference to the climate crisis.

  2. Rand Paul putting a hold on Yellen's nomination to the Fed might matter. If he and other conservatives actually obstruct her nomination for any length of time, that could finally be the push Senate Dems need to enact real filibuster reform.
