Happy Birthday to Graham Parker, 62.
Just a bit of the good stuff:
1. Jonathan Chait, writing about change in the electorate while trying not to annoy anyone about "realignment."
2. Seth Masket gets all angry with Nancy Pelosi just because she sort of forget the rest of the world existed.
3. I didn't get around to reading Ezra Klein's ode to the Obama era until now, but it's very much worth checking out.

ReplyDeleteThe theory about demographic changes that will herald a period of Democratic dominance has been around for a while--it goes back to 2002's The Emerging Democratic Majority by John Judis and Ruy Teixeira, which was published before Karl Rove's now-notorious remarks about a "permanent Republican majority." The natural tendency of winning sides to engage in premature triumphalism has obscured the fact that this thesis was not composed at a time of Democratic victory--quite the opposite. It's a thesis that is certainly open to criticism, but it isn't some knee-jerk response to winning.
Now Graham Parker is someone I can get behind. Some really great albums that never got any real recognition or, at least, high sales. Good stuff!
